Summary

The monographic study aims to explore the potential of literature in the understanding and application of law. It embodies a continuous effort to achieve a polylogue oriented towards the procedural nature of law–a term introduced by Julia Kristeva and described by Miglena Nikolchina as „an interdisciplinary multiplication of rationality and as a transposition of the Unified into different registers“, ultimately seen as „a movement from theory to... poetry“. By analyzing legal issues presented in various literary works, including Sophocles‘ „Oedipus Rex“, Aeschylus‘ „The Oresteia“, Shakespeare‘s „The Merchant of Venice“, and others, the following pages seek to develop a theory „aware of its fictional and semiotic dimensions“ without turning itself into a parable. This exposition seeks to find the otherness of that law which is accustomed to perceiving itself as a final and fixed source of truth, i.e., as something that must be clear and unwavering.
