The anniversary collection is dedicated to one of the most prominent contemporary Bulgarian historians - Professor Vitka Toshkova, PhD in Historical Sciences, whose research is related to the political and diplomatic history of Bulgaria, its place in the complex system of international relations and, above all, in the interests of the great powers - Germany, the USA, the USSR/Russia in the 20th and early 21st centuries. The thematic diversity of Prof. Toshkova's research is reflected in the variety of topics presented in the collection. The studies and articles included in the collection cover a wide chronological range and a rich variety of topics and are grouped into three sections: "Bulgaria in the vicissitudes of the 20th century," "Bulgaria and Russia/USSR: crossing paths," and "Bulgarian perspectives on world history." In the published materials, the authors often defend opposing positions on a given issue, which will certainly arouse readers' interest in the questions raised.

About The Authors

• Tamara Stoilova: Tamara Stoilova is a doctor of historical sciences, professor at the Institute for Historical Research of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He is a specialist in the history of the Russian Empire, studying its imperial foreign policy and the complex political and diplomatic relations that St. Petersburg has with France, the Ottoman Empire, the Commonwealth and other countries on the political map of Europe in the eighteenth century.
• Violina Atanasova: Violina Atanasova is a doctor of history, assistant professor at the Institute for Historical Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She was born on May 6, 1955 in the city of Varna. Graduated from the Institute for Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University "M. V. Lomonosov ”(1979). She defended her doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Oriental Studies at the USSR Academy of Sciences (1987). Participates in the compilation and editorial boards of a number of collections published by the Institute for Historical Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She has been an editor of Historical Future magazine for many years. She has published articles and studies on the problems of Bulgarian-Indian relations and ideas about India in Bulgaria.
