In this work, the author conducts a comprehensive study of the life and socio-political, spiritual, and cultural-educational activities of the Bulgarian diaspora in Canada, comprising individuals originating both from Bulgaria and from territories located outside the country’s current borders. The study covers the period from the earliest years of its formation, from the beginning of the century to the late 1980s. The author also examines the extent to which Bulgarian immigrants have preserved their Bulgarian ethnic identity within Canada’s multicultural society. His observations and conclusions are of particular relevance given the recent increase in the number of Bulgarians in Canada and the challenges associated with their adaptation, self-realization, maintaining ties with their homeland, assimilation, and so on.
