This is the first work that presents the folklore song tradition of the Eastern Stara Planina as a verbal and musical text in the memory of the bearers in the second half of the 20th century. The selected samples (recorded and deciphered by the collectors) are emblematic of their types in the studied region. They are arranged according to their functional purpose in the calendar and family rituals as reported by the bearers themselves. The materials contain verbal and musical parallels to the northeastern and southeastern Bulgarian regions and fill the opportunities for studying the specific musical style features of the eastern Bulgarian musical folklore tradition as a whole.
