This anthology is the first attempt to present texts from the literature of Bulgarian Catholics and Banat literature to a wider audience. The publication includes a total of 38 texts written exclusively in Bulgarian. The selected texts are as diverse as possible in terms of subject matter, within the limits of the dominant religious orientation of the literature, and are representative of a specific historical period, writer, or region. Their reproduction aims to achieve maximum accessibility for contemporary users in order to justify the linguistic and didactic aspect of the anthology. On the one hand, this is achieved through the use of both the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets in cases where this is possible and does not interfere with the authenticity of the material presented. For example, some of the Banat songs and historical stories were recorded using the original alphabet of the Banat Bulgarians – the Latin alphabet – but were transliterated in the archival sources and provided with language notes to facilitate their perception among Bulgarian readers and users.
