Summary

The proposed second volume of the work "Building Construction in Bulgaria" examines the construction of buildings and construction equipment during the period 1945–1989. The reasons and prerequisites for this development are noted: the changed economic and social relations, the need for a large volume of construction to restore the destruction of the war and to overcome the housing crisis. For this purpose, the industrialization of construction is being pursued and the panel construction and structural system is chosen as the most suitable for civil construction. The development of this and other construction and structural systems implemented in our country is examined in detail, as well as the process of constructing industrial buildings. Special attention is also paid to the individual elements of the building: walls, floors, roofs, coatings, etc. Based on rich factual material, on the basis of literary data and personal observations, the achievements and weaknesses in our building construction during the period under consideration are analyzed, and a periodization for the individual phases of development is proposed. The book is intended for specialists in the history of architecture and construction, as well as for all those interested in building construction during the period 1945–1989.
