Summary

The monograph examines the position of the Morava-Rhodope tectonic zone in the Alpine orogen of the Balkan Peninsula, distinguishing between metallogenic epochs and industrial-genetic types of minerals, and dividing the Morava-Rhodope metallogenic zone into regions. The geological structure, tectonics, and magmatism of the Eastern Rhodopes are described. Late Alpine magmatism is characterized in more detail, given its important role in the metallogeny of the region. New lithostratigraphic units for late-extensional magmatism are introduced. The ore sub-regions, the individual fields within them, as well as some specific deposits and occurrences are traced. The study focuses on metallic and non-metallic minerals. The attachment of Au-Pb-Zn ore fields to the largest volcanic structures in the depressions has been clarified. A review of the Late Alpine tectonic, magmatic, and metallogenic evolution of the Eastern Rhodopes has been made. A geological-genetic model of late-extension magmatism and the associated metallogeny has been compiled, and the general patterns in the distribution of minerals have been examined.
