Summary
The collection, dedicated to Russian literature, is the second in a series of 8-volume studies on the translation reception of European literatures in Bulgaria. The analysis is focused primarily on the most famous Russian writers of the 19th and 20th centuries, some of whom are presented with independent essays, and the rest with overview studies dedicated to the thematic circles dominant in a given period, to different aesthetics, such as the modernist movements of the early 20th century, to Russian émigré and dissident literature, which reflected creative positions that did not coincide, even contradicted, the then dominant method of socialist realism. The publication includes translations of works by Russian writers, published both in our periodical press and in independent editions of individual or collected works, characteristic of the translation reception at the end of the 19th and the entire 20th century, especially in its second half, when Russian books entered Bulgaria on a massive scale.
