Summary

The Critique of Practical Reason is not only formally the final revision of the preliminary study of the principles of the Metaphysics of Morals, which came later, but also the final revision of the thought of that study. In the preface to his 1929 edition of the Critique of Practical Reason, published in Kant's Collected Works under his editorship, Forlender notes that in terms of content it is indeed closer to the Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, but in terms of significance it is more oriented towards the Metaphysics of Morals, that it is one of the three main links in Kant's moral philosophy and in this sense its content is important for the study of Kant's entire ethical system. Methodologically, its value for ethics is equal to the value that the Critique of Pure Reason has for the Metaphysics of Nature.
