Summary

This is a tale about the evolution of life on planet Earth, as it can be traced back in the stone chronicles. Unfortunately, there are too many fossils described in the book – petrified shells, skulls and skeletons, and many more – but this is the history of the living world in past geological times. No biological species lives forever. Every living thing has its own path on Earth’s ever-changing face, and those who did not manage to adapt to the environmental changes left their bones in the annals, giving way to other forms. Most intriguing but also tragic is the story of those creatures who tried to assert their dominance over the rest of the world.
