This work is the first comprehensive presentation of one of the most vibrant and characteristic parts of our folk art. After research and collection work in 280 villages from all regions of Bulgaria, the collection includes the lyrics of 853 songs, previously unpublished. The three introductory studies summarize the research of the team and all previous studies by Bulgarian and foreign scholars on haidouk and related historical-revolutionary songs. The complete bibliography, the scholarly commentary on the texts, the catalogue of subjects, and the other reference material confirm the high scholarly value of this work.
