Summary

Undoubtedly, the study does not cover all issues, monuments, and problems, but an attempt has been made to show the current state of research. And although the bi-ritual necropolises remain unsolved, the discovery of the Balchik necropolis is a step towards their clarification and origin. The cremation and inhumation graves are scattered throughout the Balchik necropolis. This fact and the identical materials (ceramic vessels, jewelry, iron objects), the same types of animals, and the broken vessels remind us that the two groups are synchronous, although graves with burials and large animals predominate in the western part, while in the eastern part there are more graves with cremations in pits. The necropolis near Balchik reconstructs not only elements of religious beliefs, attitudes towards death and the dead, but also reveals a number of aspects of everyday life and the material culture of the population living nearby—they were already engaged in agriculture, and among them were skilled cattle breeders and excellent potters.
