Summary

The studies in this volume, as well as in the first one, are interdisciplinary in nature and are distinguished by a wide thematic scope. Although very diverse in terms of thematic content, they are united by the Sufism that permeates them to one degree or another - one of the most complex and most enduring currents in the history of Islam and Islamic culture. The volume includes 14 studies published in various scientific publications (journals and collections). They have also been supplemented and mainly edited. The publication contains 10 plans, as well as 206 color and black-and-white photographs, most of which were taken by the author and are presented in a general appendix. The attached detailed dictionary of Turkish-Arabic-Persian terms and names found in both volumes is also useful for the Bulgarian reader. The book is intended for students, doctoral students in the humanities and all those who are interested in the Ottoman cultural heritage (architecture and art) preserved to this day in Bulgaria.

Аbout The Author

• Lubomir Mikov: Lyubomir Mikov graduated in Bulgarian philology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and then started working at the Institute of Folklore at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In 1985 he received the degree of "candidate of art history" (today the scientific and educational degree of "doctor"). In 2002 he obtained the scientific degree "Doctor of Historical Sciences". Since 1998 he has been a part-time lecturer at the New Bulgarian University, and since 2006 - at the National Academy of Arts, where he lectures on Ottoman architecture and art. From 2001 to 2010 he was the editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian Folklore magazine. He founded the non-periodic series "Islam and Folk Traditions" in the magazine. Works in the field of Bulgarian folk and Revival applied art, Ottoman architecture and art in the Bulgarian lands, ethnology of the Bulgarians and Sufism. He is the author of 7 more books and more than 100 studies and articles.
