Summary

The monograph "The Dog: An Introduction to Cynology" is an extremely valuable handbook for anyone interested in cynology and dog breeding. Richly illustrated, the work covers 13 separate sections. It examines the anatomical and physiological characteristics of dogs. An extensive analysis of nutrition is provided. Specific zoohygienic parameters related to breeding methods and techniques are discussed. An original method for controlling selection processes is proposed. The book provides a critical analysis of the basic breeding methods in genetics (Mendelian genetics) as insufficient for drawing conclusions about the complex genetic relationships in the process of inheritance of various traits in higher mammals, in this case the domestic dog. The section on dog behavior covers a wealth of analytical material, including personal research on the subject. At the end of the book, the author provides definitions of many terms used not only in cynology, but also in animal husbandry in general.
