Summary
The main idea of the monograph is to trace creative approaches through the positions of ethnomusicology. These are formed on the basis of the interaction between folklore music and the ways in which it is re-imagined in the creation of author’s works. In this perspective, the monograph offers a specific version of a typology that focuses on traditional culture and its influence on creative approaches in several main directions:
1. Research achievements in ethnomusicology and their influence in shaping creative approaches. Attention is drawn to two of the main lines in Bulgarian music and folklore science: the unevenness as a phenomenon in folklore music; regional specificities and musical and folklore dialects.
2. Traditional principles of musical thinking in building creative approaches: folklore polyphony; formality, variation-improvisation, motive-variant form-building principle; instrumental technique;
3. Creative approaches to folklore song samples from traditional music.
