Summary
The book presents an up-to-date sedimentological concept for the Upper Cretaceous in Bulgaria. The characteristics of the ten sedimentary geocomplexes include: definition, distribution, lower boundary, age range, rock types with mineral and chemical composition, structures and textures, thicknesses, vertical sequences with cyclothems, rhythms, and beds, as well as lateral facies zonations. Genetic interpretations clarify sources of materials, sedimentary processes, diagenesis, catagenesis, sedimentary environments, and paleogeodynamic environments. The Late Cretaceous evolution of the Bulgarian lands is interpreted based on the spatial-temporal distribution of sedimentary geocomplexes in the Miziya epicontinental sea, the Kul, Emin, and Sredna Gora troughs. The paleogeodynamic reconstructions are based on geological and paleoclimatic data and are reflected in maps and diagrams.
The book is intended for specialist geologists - researchers, industrialists, students, and graduate students.
