The book includes original works by researchers from the Institute of Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, devoted to various topical issues of social development and sociology. The researchers analyze processes of post-communist social transformation in various thematic areas using different research approaches from different points of view and sociological perspectives. It offers interpretations of the development of new Bulgarian sociology, analyzes the relationship between global challenges and local opportunities for responding to them in Bulgaria, the problems of identity transformation, organizational-managerial and technical-technological issues in the modernization process, the difficulties in the development of today's Bulgarian village, social restructuring in post-communist society and the genesis of new middle classes, the marginalisation of part of the group structure, problems of generational relations and deviant behaviour.
