Vladimir Shkodrov
Vladimir Shkodrov (1930-2010) is a Bulgarian scientist famous worldwide for his notable achievements in astronomy. Prof. Shkodrov was a lecturer at the University of Shumen and its Rector for many years in succession. He was also the Head of the BAS Doctoral Training Institute. His American colleagues named asteroid 4364 after him - 4364 Shkodrov - in recognition of his discovery of a large number of asteroids. Prof. Vladimir Shkodrov authored over 200 scientific publications. In 1948 he graduated from the Belogradchik High School and in 1958 he graduated from the University of Mining and Geology in Sofia. He completed his dissertation at Leningrad State University in 1969. Prof. Shkodrov contributed to a great number of Bulgarian and international projects. He was an MP in the 37th National Assembly.
