Ivanichka Georgieva graduated from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", majoring in history, archeology. Since 1963 she has been working at the Ethnographic Institute and Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and since 1974 at the Faculty of History of Sofia University. In 1968 she defended his PhD dissertation, and in 1984 - a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences. She has been a professor since 1988. She is a holder of a badge of honor with a blue ribbon of Sofia University (2005). Her research is in the field of mythology, folk worldview, calendar and family rites, the system of kinship, firefighting. She also studies the Bulgarian diaspora.
