The dictionary contains a large number of terms and terminological expressions covering a number of aspects of remote sensing methods, some of which we will only briefly list: general concepts underlying remote aerospace research (electromagnetic radiation, its propagation in the atmosphere and interaction with matter, radiometric and photometric sizes); components of remote sensing (equipment carriers, satellite orbits, instrumentation, data transmission and processing); spectral characteristics of natural objects in different ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum; physical bases, nature and features of the different methods and technical means; principles of operation and main characteristics of the equipment; data types, databases; aerospace photography; image processing and interpretation, as well as basic concepts of optics, photogrammetry, color theory, recognition
of images, computer graphics, etc. The dictionary includes a number of terms from areas whose methods are based on the principles underlying remote sensing, such as medical imaging, industrial flaw detection, navigation. Here is the place to mention that special attention is paid to radar technologies, which are an essential part of remote sensing of the Earth and the Earth's atmosphere, the study of celestial bodies from the solar system, to observe and predict extreme weather events. Radar methods are widely used in areas such as air, sea and satellite navigation, security and defense.
