The monograph examines anthroponymic data from the village of Tabak (Bolgrad) in Southern Bessarabia – a settlement that emerged as a result of the mass Bulgarian migration during the Russo-Turkish War (1806 – 1812). The material, extracted from official archival documents from the 19th century and previously unused in scientific research, reflects the naming system of the Bulgarian diaspora outside Bulgaria. The analysis traces the development of naming from the late 18th to the early 21st century under the influence of sociocultural, religious, linguistic and migration factors in a multilingual and multinational environment. The study contributes to Bulgarian onomastics and aims to lay the foundation for a future historical dictionary of Bulgarian personal names in Bessarabia, contributing to the preservation of ancestral and cultural-historical memory.
