Vasilena Stoikova Todoranova
Vasilena Stoikova Todoranova was born in Haskovo in 1944. She graduated from the French Language School ‘Frederic Joliot-Curie’ in Varna. In 1968 Vasilena Todoranova graduated from Sofia University ‘St Kliment Ohridski’ with a degree in Classical Studies and a second French language degree. She also has a degree in Archaeology. Since 1969 she has worked at the University of Veliko Tarnovo ‘St St Cyril and Methodius’ where she subsequently held the following posts: teacher, senior teacher and chief assistant professor of Classical languages. She has specialized in Latin literature in Rome. Her area of research expertise is the literature of the Antiquity. Vasilena Todoranova wrote the monograph ‘Structure, function and semantic fields in the depictions of the natural world: Virgil, Horace, Ovid’, University Publishing House ‘St St Cyril and Methodius’ 2006. She is the author of 26 articles, 11 Latin and Ancient Greek textbooks, e.g. ‘Ancient Greek textbook’ third revised and enlarged edition, Rovita, Veliko Turnovo, 1999 and ‘Latin textbook’, Rovita, Veliko Turnovo, 2002.
