The monograph analyses the fundamental role of the Border Guard in Poland's national security system and the protection of the eastern Schengen border. The work is divided into four main chapters, each of which discusses key aspects of the Border Guard's activities. The study contains a detailed analysis of the concept and tasks of the Border Guard. These include the protection of state borders on land and sea, organizing
and conducting border traffic control, and preventing and combating illegal migration by monitoring compliance with the regulations on the entry and stay of foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Poland. In addition, the process of identifying, analysing and combating migration threats, including crimes related to illegal migration, as well as cooperation with other bodies and entities responsible for issuing entry permits to foreigners, is presented. The implementation of tasks resulting from European Union law and international agreements and the role of the Border Guard as the National Passenger Information Unit are also emphasized. In addition, the main areas of international cooperation of the Border Guard are described. This includes
the deployment of officers to other EU Member States to carry out joint patrols and operations aimed at public security and crime prevention. It also examines cooperation through the network of Border Guard and Police liaison officers stationed in Polish diplomatic missions abroad and participation in the activities of the European
Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and other EU bodies.
