The book "Natural Disasters and Environmental Disasters - Study, Prevention, Protection" is the third supplemented and revised edition. The first edition appeared in 2007, but due to the interest and exhaustion of circulation in 2009, a second one was needed. The two previous ones, as well as the current one, are editions of the Publishing House of BAS “Prof. Marin Drinov ".
This book is dedicated to a very topical issue in the world and in our country - the study and fight against natural disasters and environmental disasters.
The main natural ecological disasters are considered - earthquakes, floods, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, avalanches, lightning, landslides, dust storms, forest fires, extreme temperatures, hail, etc. Their physical and geophysical parameters, which are, on the one hand, related to the scale of casualties and damage, and, on the other hand, the impact on them in order to prevent and reduce losses, are discussed.
For all natural disasters, possible measures for prevention and protection - both organizational and engineering, and individual - behavior and action before, during and after an environmental disaster are considered. Modern and effective tools for studying these disasters are also presented, namely aerospace technologies.
This edition provides a relatively small number of statistics on natural disasters that have occurred both in the world and in our country. The natural reason for this is that there is plenty of data about them on the Internet.
The book is intended for a wide interdisciplinary readership - scientists and specialists in ecology, geophysics, geography, hydrology and meteorology, geology, fire protection and civil protection, military specialists, medical, mountain and other rescue services, engineers from a number of specializations, insurance professionals. etc., as well as students in the middle course and in higher civil and military educational institutions.
